Karine Ruby, one of the most decorated female snowboarder in the world died in a climbing accident on the Mont Blanc. She became one of snowboarding’s first stars when she won a gold medal for France at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano. Following her successes Ruby took home a silver medal in parallel giant slalom at the 2002 Salt Lake City Games, 6 world championship titles and 67 snowboard World Cup victories.
