VANS Downtown Showdown 2009 Torino Highlights

For the first time, the famous Downtown Showdown skateboarding event came cross the Atlantic to take place in Europe: The huge high roof of the historic Lingotto building which formerly housed the Fiat factory and has shaped Torino’s skyline since 1923 is the heart of this innovative event. It brings together the most important skateboarding teams from all over Europe. The Downtown Showdown has its origins in Hollywood’s Paramount Studios. Its concept goes far beyond the usual standards of a skateboarding competition: at the Downtown Showdown, also craftsmanship, obstacle ideas and creativity play a decisive role. Six skateboarding teams have been invited to design an inventive obstacle. A jury chooses the three best ideas which then will be realized within the set-up.
